Noadswood do it again at the Hampshire TSB Track Competition!

June 23, 2015

After their 7 trophy success at the annual New Forest Track and Field Championships, in Bournemouth earlier this term, the Noadswood U15 Boys and Girls teams ran to Victory at the Hampshire Track Final at the Hampshire Youth Games which were held at Aldershot on Friday 19th June.

To reach the final, both teams have had to travel around the County, competing in the knock out rounds and the semi-finals. The boys’ team won both their preceding rounds and qualified for the final with an enormous eleven point lead. The girls came second in the rounds and qualified for the final after a storming win for the Relay team in the semi-finals.

Competing in the final, against some of the strongest athletes in Hampshire, the Noadswood athletes did not disappoint. With several PB’s run and some excellent results, the Girls came away with the silver medals as runners up and the boys exceeded expectations and were crowned U15 Track Champions 2015!

Congratulations to all the athletes, notable performances include Max Phear, who won the 100m, 200m and bought the baton home to victory in the Relay. Taikiko, who was placed 2nd in the 100m, 3rd in the 200m and Callum Braden, who came 2nd in the 300m. Both boys were also part of the winning Relay squad with Luke Holland who ran a PB in his 300 event. The Relay squad clocked up their fastest time this season.   Special mention for Oli Smallridge, who stepped in at the last minute to replace an injured Robbie, and came 2nd in 1500m.

In the Girls event Beth Wilcock won the 200m, came second in the 100m and overtook two athletes to get the Relay team into 3rd place. India Blake ran an impressive 800m and came in 3rd in the B  string event whereas Sarah Goulding came 4th in the A string 200m and 800m as well as being part of the Relay squad- such a versatile young lady!

It was an amazing day where the sun shone and our athletes were inspired! The results reflected months of training, total commitment and enormous determination from all.

Well done to all the athletes, including those who competed in previous rounds. A fantastic end to our best ever Athletics season!!
