Noadswood Schoolboys off to Sweden

Two Year 10 boys from Noadswood School in Dibden Purlieu have been given the opportunity of a lifetime.

Lewis Connor from Hythe and Joel Francis from Blackfield have been chosen as part of the Eastleigh Football Club

Academy Under 15s team to travel to Gothenburg in Sweden to take part in the Gothia Cup.


The Gothia Cup is the World Youth Cup and will take place between 16th and 22nd July 2017. It is the worlds largest

and most international youth football tournament.

The Opening Ceremony


Each year around 1,600 teams from 80 nations take part and play 4,500 games on 110 pitches.

It is the teams and participants from around the world that make the tournament unique. It is a meeting place for

the worlds youth irrespective of religion, skin colour or nationality, with football as the common denominator.

Lewis and Joel are understandably very excited at the prospect of this trip and the amazing opportunity they have

been given. They are currently working very hard on fundraising events to help raise their fare for the trip. They are

organising cake sales, raffles and tombola’s as well as selling their old toys and sports equipment and seeking


If you can help out in anyway – with a raffle or tombola prize or even with sponsorship (big or small) they would be

extremely grateful.
