Pupils visit Portsmouth Historic Dockyards

October 6, 2017

On Thursday 5th October Navig8 students went on a trip to Portsmouth Historic Dockyards. The trip saw pupils visit the dockyards, where they had a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes and access the museum archives linked to HMS Victory, Nelson and the Battle of Trafalgar. Through a series of investigative activities focused around these primary sources students discovered more about the ship, the battle and the men who served on board. Pupils grappled brilliantly with a series of challenging sources, some were so fragile microscopes, gloves and magnifying glasses were required. We then got to go on board HMS Victory to learn what life was really like for the sailors of Victory.  The pupils were a credit to themselves and we can’t wait to read their finished articles.
