Historians visit Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

June 29, 2018

On Monday 25th June, 46 year 9 historians visited Portsmouth Historic Dockyard for a day of hands on History to compliment their GCSE course. This involved them sorting evidence, hypothesising and handling primary sources. They visited the Mary Rose Museum, completed a workshop on Tudor surgery and visited  HMS Warrior. Noadswood pupils were a credit to our school, so much so that the head of learning at the Mary Rose learning centre emailed the school stating:

“We were deeply impressed by all the students.  They were an absolute delight to teach and a great credit to the school,  their wonderful teachers and themselves.  They listened carefully participated in the role pay activity with great enthusiasm.  Even those for whom role play was a bit daunting, joined in cheerfully and demonstrated that they had really understood all the information which they had just assimilated.  Their manners and behaviour were exemplary and their positive attitude to learning was impressive.

Please pass on our thanks and very best wishes to Mrs Rollett, her colleagues and all the students who visited us this morning.   We see hundreds of schools every year at the Mary Rose and I have no hesitation in saying  that the students from Noadswood were truly outstanding!”

A fantastic day of learning and deep thinking, well done historians!
