Noadswood School invites local elderly residents to a Vintage Tea

11 July, 2019

GCSE students of Noadswood came up with a great idea to help develop their catering skills “ Let’s have an afternoon tea” So after some discussion and planning the students decided on a theme of a Vintage style afternoon tea.

The menu was researched, students planned the menu, recipes and costings looked at and dietary needs discussed. Students decided who would do what. All wanted to make the fantastic choices of cakes, Victoria sponges, Swiss roll, biscuits and of course a wide selection of sandwiches.

We got in touch with the Home Manager at West cliff Hall residential care home and he thought it would be a great idea. So we booked a date and ten residents attended and had a fantastic time; students served their guests and chatted with each one. Our Headteacher, Miss Marshall attended and spoke to all the guests and found out that one gentleman’s children and grandchildren had attended Noadswood school.

So after an hour of drinking tea and eating to their full, it was time for our guests to leave. We said our farewells and wished all a safe journey home. “See you soon!” were our parting words!
