Safeguarding

Safeguarding

We want all members of our Noadswood family, including students, staff, parents/carers and our wider community, to feel safe whilst in school, in the community and in their day to day lives.

We are committed to working together in partnership to ensure the welfare and safety to all of students and we expect that all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment.

Our students have a right to learn, live and grown in an environment they can enjoy, feel happy and feel safe. This includes their right to protection from all types of abuse and harm, a school environment in which staff are vigilant to any students in distress and are confident in the processes they need to undertake to alleviate and report such concerns.

We have a Safeguarding Policy and a Child Protection policy which can be found here (click link). All adults who work on or visit the site (including supply staff, volunteers and Trustees) must ensure that they are aware of these procedures and subscribe to our principles of keeping children safe.

We engage in regular safeguarding discussions with students and, through our tutor times, assemblies, Citizenship curriculum and school wide safeguarding culture,  provide advice and other information to guide them on how to spot signs that a friend or family member is not safe and how to seek help for themselves or someone else.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a student’s welfare. Where possible, we will ensure that concerns about our students are discussed with his/her/their parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the student’s welfare.

If your child is ever concerned about their safety or well-being or about that of a friend, they should talk to one of the school’s Designated Safeguarding Leads or any other member of staff who will report to the concerns to the appropriate people. A child’s concerns could be for themselves or for a friend or family member. A child may feel that an issue could be too small to report but should always report anyway so the relevant experienced people can take on the responsibility and decision making for them.

Our safeguarding team consists of:

  • Designated Safeguarding Lead: Mrs Helen Loveday
  • Senior Leadership Team: Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads: Miss K Marshall, Mr D Rowling
  • Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads: Miss Fitzgerald, Miss Lavetiviti, Mr Payne (all Assistant Year Leaders) and Miss Harwood (ELSA), Miss Simmons (Learning Reset Coordinator) and Miss Penny (Flexible Learning Lead)
  • Counsellor: Mrs Maskall
