At Noadswood School, our GCSE Business Studies curriculum equips students with the essential knowledge, skills, and understanding required to navigate, analyse, and thrive in the dynamic world of modern commerce. Following the Pearson Edexcel GCSE (9–1) Business (1BS0) specification, the course introduces students to how small start-ups launch and innovate, as well as how established, multinational corporations adapt to changing global markets.

Through real-world case studies, interactive business decision-making tasks, and quantitative financial analysis, students examine key business functions—including enterprise, marketing, operations, finance, and human resource management. Our goal is to cultivate enterprising minds, critical thinkers, and practical problem solvers ready for future education and career pathways.

Curriculum Intent & Core Pillars

Critical Decision-Making: Students learn to evaluate complex qualitative data and business metrics to formulate strategic, well-evidenced recommendations across local, national, and global business contexts.

Enterprise & Financial Literacy: From break-even analysis and cash flow forecasting to profit margins and sources of capital, students develop crucial financial literacy and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Ethical & Global Awareness:  Students explore how external dynamics—including rapidly evolving technology, legal frameworks, environmental imperatives, and economic shifts—shape corporate responsibility and strategic operational success.
