Positive Lateral Flow Results - Noadswood Updates

Dear Parents and Carers,

We would like to update you all of our process should a positive lateral flow test occur - we will not continue to update the whole of the community about these results each time, however we will ensure that anyone who is likely to have been a potential close contact is informed straight away via ePraise. If you hear about a positive lateral flow test at Noadswood, you do not need to contact the school to establish whether your child is a contact; we will always follow the process here, updating only if the guidance alters.

As part of the Post Step 4 government guidance, when we are made aware of a positive lateral flow we will inform potential close-contacts of this as quickly as possible. We will then update them as to the outcome of the PCR. Should the PCR return positive, NHS Test and Trace along with our support will identify close contacts (as shown in the flow diagrams below):

Those individuals who are informed that they are likely to have been around the individual who has had a positive lateral flow, will be asked to be extra vigilant in terms of Covid-19 symptoms, as well familiarising themselves with the NHS advice about what can be done to help reduce the risk of individuals and those they live with from with getting ill with COVID-19 (see below).

Symptoms

The most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of:

  • a new continuous cough
  • a high temperature
  • a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness

If your child does develop symptoms, you can seek advice from the nhs.uk website (click link):

NHS

If you are concerned about your child’s symptoms, or they are worsening you can seek advice from NHS 111 at https://111.nhs.uk/ or by phoning 111.

How to stop COVID-19 spreading

There are things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with COVID-19:

Do:

  • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • wash your hands as soon as you get home
  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards
