Required as soon as possible: We are looking to appoint an Assistant Year Leader to join our exceptionally experienced, strong and tenacious current team of pastoral leaders, validated by peer and external review alike for the quality of their work. You will be joining an excellent, determined team. We seek candidates who, over time, will have the flexibility to work right across our age groups should that be in the best interests of the team and the students. Our externally highly-regarded Pastoral team currently consists of 5 Year Leaders, 3 Assistant Year Leaders, a Therapy Team of experienced Therapeutic Workers, ELSAs, and a School Counsellor. As an Assistant Year Leader, you will: - Carry out administration and support of school policies and procedures for the Year Teams and Therapy Teams under their direction.
- Site walk every morning at 8.30am and at every lesson change over and during student social times, reinforcing timely movement of everyone around school site, and ensuring pinch points of site are routinely monitored.
- Work with the Year Leaders and other members of the pastoral team, supporting the behaviour, attendance and pastoral provision for year groups’ of students.
- Provide daily support for students including with respect to academic, behaviour and wellbeing and self-regulation issues.
- Work alongside the Year Leader and attendance officer to track and monitor attendance, and to intervene where this is a concern.
- Plan and implement co-ordinated appropriate interventions for students whose attendance, achievement, behaviour or wellbeing is a concern.
- Support year and school events in the day (and in the evenings paid accordingly) pertaining to the year group(s), the House system and whole school culture.
- Liaise with the other Year Leaders and Assistant Year Leaders, to ensure continuity and progression of high-quality pastoral provision throughout the school
- Contribute to assemblies on a regular basis in partnership with Year Leaders and existing Year Leaders, and take a consistent lead on administrating rewards and celebrations events throughout the year, under the direction of Year Leaders and SLT.
- Cover the KS3/KS4 offices while current Assistant Year Leaders are in meetings, on duty or working with specific students or groups of students.
- Support on school trips and field work.
- Receive safeguarding and child protection training to join the school’s Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead team, led by the Designated Safeguarding Lead and the Headteacher.
